Tore down the propaganda hung fifty years ago
Sneaking past iron walls to a dusty hotline

Hello there
My name is
Hello there
My name is

Wait, don't try to hang up on me yet!

Around here we like to forget the bloody past
Because I like to dream of androids as I sleep on the moon

Oh shut up
So annoying
Oh shut up
So annoying

Guess I can't help it if everyone calls me foolish

But hey
Ring ring ring
No one ever said we can't try to get along

I count my pride and hatred back two centuries and a half
Forget everything I never said to you

And instead call me back on the red telephone

Can you hear me? Can you hear me?
Cheers to going against stereotypes and political tensions

Want to see you! Want to see you!
Even if I have to fly to the other side of the dizzying world

But I don't know, just don't know
Because the adults like to hide their secrets all of the time

Thought the earth was warming up at last
Yet I can feel a war growing colder each day

Squint my eyes shut as the missiles soar up high like rockets
You're the only one I can dial
But I guess you don't want to be friends

Rummaged through rubble of empires alike
Found no signal coming in from my old satellites

Farewell
Who are you?
Farewell
Who are you?

That's right, there's only one name in the yellow book

Can't seem to run away from these haunting pains
Because I like to dream of ballerinas while I write in the snow

Please play nice
Go away
Please play nice
Go away

Guess I can't help if everyone calls me selfish

But hey
Dzyn dzyn dzyn
No one ever said we can't try to agree for once

I count my honor and loath back eleven centuries and a half
Just when I think everything can't go my way

I wait for a call back on the red telephone

Can you hear me? Can you hear me?
I'll be one who wants to explore the planet a little more

I remember, still remember
That I want to be someone great, who doesn't want to feel that way?

But I can't know, need to know
You say I can't be trusted when I can say the same about you

Thought the earth was warming up at last
Yet I shivered as the war dropped degrees lower today

Clench my fists tight as the missiles soared up high like bullets
You're the only one I can dial
But I guess you don't want to be friends

With that attitude of yours powering the reception
With that courage coming through the speaker's end
I only thought that everyone would accept a new allegiance

But instead the phone wires have been cut off
But instead the temperature hit zero degrees

But instead the missiles finally
Came shooting down

Do you see stars? Do you see stripes?
Did you really think I cared about what they said about me?

Don't I matter? Don't I matter?
Who said that you weren't a person that lead an important existence too?

I am sorry, I'm so sorry
Guess no one ever thought of saying something obscure like that

But I was born after the walls came falling down
So doesn't that make you want to try again?

Hey, I like you, I really like you
Nuclear wars are never fun if you are feeling all alone

Can I see you? I will see you!
Let's form a union as long as the Bering Strait

Nice to meet you! Nice to meet you!
Wave our flags in the air so they know what we mean

Even though the earth's warmth is still melting away
Maybe the cold hearts will finally thaw out one day

Wear a smile as we look up at the same bright night sky
Who would have known old enemies can still become friends?

So don't forget to call me back on the red telephone
Nothing says friendship like Cold War references. Phone rage

*Dzyn dzyn dzyn- the Russian equivalent of a phone ring ring ring (Дзынь Дзынь Дзынь)

This came into my mind when the phrase "red telephone" came out of nowhere. I also have had this idea floating around about talking to someone on the other side of the world who lives in a country that kinda hates yours. So I just thought about what would happen if someone like me were to use the Moscow-Washington hotline and built off of there.'

I decided to go with that "innocent/naive/oblivious" point of view like I did with Acting HERO and Apocalyptic Cheer.

*The hotline is actually neither red or a telephone, and it never was. Today its actually a secure computer link where messages are sent through email.
But that didn't stop me.

I like this. The symbolism works well with the theme.
